MoHRE issues 12 types of work permits that allow establishments registered with the ministry to recruit employees based on the nature of the job. The types of permits include:

  • Work permit to recruit a worker from outside the UAE

  • Work permit to transfer a foreign worker from one establishment to another

  • Work permit for a resident under family sponsorship

  • Temporary work permit to hire a worker for a specific period

  • One-mission work permit to recruit a worker from abroad for a temporary job or project

  • Part-time work permit for workers with reduced hours or days

  • Juvenile permit to employ individuals aged 15 to 18

  • Student training and employment permit for students aged 15 and above already in the UAE

  • UAE/GCC national permit to employ UAE or GCC nationals

  • Golden Visa holder permit for employing workers with a Golden Residence Visa

  • National trainee permit to train UAE nationals

  • Freelance permit for self-sponsored foreigners providing services without an employer sponsorship

Getting Work Permits & Employment Visas in Abu Dhabi

4. Application Review

5. Work Permit Issuance

Once approved, the work permit is issued. This allows you to work legally in Abu Dhabi.

6. Arrival & Final Steps

After entering Abu Dhabi, you may need additional procedures like medical tests or Emirates ID processing.
